McCoy new Miss Rockdale Fair

Steinbecker, Jerman runners-up at 35th annual pageant

Reporter/Mike Brown Emily McCoy, a 17-year-old junior at Rockdale High School, was crowned Miss Rockdale Fair 2012 Saturday before a crowd of more than 600 in the Rockdale High School auditorium.

First runner-up at the annual pageant was Allyson Steinbecker and second runner up was Jacey Jerman.

Mistress of ceremonies was DaNae Couch, Miss Texas 2012, who performed a twirling routine and introduced the 11 contestants.

WINNERS—The new Miss Rockdale Fair Queen is the daughter of John and Yvette McCoy. She was sponsored by Debault Welding.

This year’s first runner-up is the daughter of Danice Beathard and Dewey Steinbecker and is a 17-year- old senior at Milano High School. She was sponsored by Comfort AC.

TheMissCongenialitywinnerwas Sheila Jones, daughter of Brenda Jones and a 17-year-old senior at Rockdale High School. She was sponsored by Rockdale Federal Credit Union.

Jerman was presented the award for selling the most tickets.

Pageant director was Neva Caffey. Mrs. Caffey has been involved with all 35 Miss Rockdale Fair pageants. Assistants were Andrea Raymond and Deedra Jacob.

MISS TEXAS—James Birkhead, Rockdale Fair Association president, welcomed the crowd and introduced Couch who presented contestants in western wear and evening attire.

Morgan Fischer, 2011 Rockdale Fair queen, introduced new children’s pageant winners.

Fischer also participated in the crowning of her successor.

Couch introduced judges Gwen Coker, Jackie Estes, Darrell Donaldson and Duane Stern.

ENTERTAINMENT—Entertainment was by Denice Doss, Hannah Prestridge, and Emily Norris.

Also performing were members of the RHS Golden Girls drill team.

Contestants and sponsors were as follows: Allyson Steinbecker, Comfort AC; Ansley Jenkins, Miller-Starnes Chevrolet Buick; Jacey Jerman, Janelle Jackson/ Valhalla Farms.
