Food bank set to visit KC Hall on Thursday
The Capital Area Mobile Food Pantry will visit Rockdale’s KC Hall at 9 a.m. Thursday for its monthly free surplus food distribution, organizer Denise Sifuentes has announced. Full Story
A truck driver was take to Scott & White Hospital and most of US 77 was blocked for more than an hour Thursday when this 18-wheeler overturned north of Minerva. State Trooper Donald Delukie listed the driver as 32-year-old Jose Ramirez-Mata of Carrollton. Delukie said the truck veered off the driving surface after cresting a hill just south of the Y-intersection and overturned. Full Story
Six draw terms in 20th District Court action
CAMERON—Six persons were sentenced last week in Milam County 20th District Court.
Prosecutor Kerry Spears listed case dispositions as follows:
• Madison Luke Orsag, 19, Cameron, pleaded guilty to theft of property ($1,500 to $20,000), five years deferred adjudication probation, $350 restitution, with co-defendants. Full Story

Thorndale okays ‘eminent domain’ power
THORNDALE— City council members in Thorndale last Wednesday “re-approved” the city’s right to use Texas’ eminent domain authority.
Meeting last Wednesday at City Hall, council members followed virtually all entities in the state in claiming the authority. Full Story
MCAD directors to meet Thursday
CAMERON—Evaluation of the chief appraiser, and the chief appraiser contract, are on the agenda when directors of the Milam Appraisal District (MilamAD) meet in regular session at 12:15 p.m. Thursday.
