Thorndale okays ‘eminent domain’ power
THORNDALE— City council members in Thorndale last Wednesday “re-approved” the city’s right to use Texas’ eminent domain authority.
Meeting last Wednesday at City Hall, council members followed virtually all entities in the state in claiming the authority.
Right of eminent domain will expire next year unless entities, including municipalities and school districts, authorize and submit documentation “identifying and retaining” eminent domain to the state.
In other business, the council approved a request to divide a lot at 705 West Quinn, with restrictions, and designated The Thorndale Champion as the city’s official newspaper.
