Trunk-or-treat event to be held downtown this year

The annual trunk-or-treat event sponsored by the Milano High School student council on Halloween will be held downtown this year. It is normally held in the high school parking lot.

The event will run from 5-7 p.m. but those giving out treats are welcome to set up earlier or stay later if they wish. Folks who live out in the country and might not get as many trick-or-treaters are also welcome to come set up to give out treats downtown.

For more information, contact student council advisor Jayla Mohr at 512-455-9333.

The Milano Opry will be on Saturday, Oct. 20 at Milano High School. Doors open at 6 p.m. and show starts at 7 p.m. Hamburgers and barbecue sandwiches, along with snacks and homemade pies will be available for purchase.

Musical guests this month include The Castillo Brothers, Will Fountain and Ron Brewer. House band members are Michael Herod, Ab Woods, Michael Wall, Johnny Foster, Billy Barnett and Lynn Martin.

Don’t forget that the Milano ISD PATCH Club is still collecting “Box Tops For Education.” There are several containers around town you can drop off the box tops at, including the post office, water department and school offices. The box tops are sent in and the school earns free money.

For more information, or to arrange for box top pick up, contact PATCH Club president Marie Bakken at 254-718-0133.
