Poe

A memorial service for Jean B. Poe, 84, of Austin will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012, at Milam County Cowboy Church in Rockdale.

Mrs. Poe died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012.

She was born March 19, 1928, in Jarrell to Lester and Faye Bridges.

Mrs. Poe graduated from Salado High School and was retired from the Del Valley Post Office.

She was a member of the “Over The Hill Gang,” and was originally a member of the Crestview Methodist Church and in later years the Milam County Cowboy Church.

Mrs. Poe enjoyed music, football (the University of Texas Longhorns and Dallas Cowboys), and her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Pee Wee Poe.

Survivors are two daughters, Cheryl Chamberlain Hill and husband Lewis of Rockdale, Scottye Lynn Poe of Prescott, Arizona; a grandson, Shane Chamberlain of Rockdale; two granddaughters, Chally Poe of Austin, Chasity Shaw and husband Daniel of Gause; and four great-grandchildren, Jaylyn Barcak, Cadyn Shaw, Danni Shaw and Drew Shaw; also, several nieces and nephews and many friends.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Alliance Bible Church in Prescott, Arizona.

The burn ban for Milam County has been lifted. Burning is always prohibited in the county's municipalities.
