Zotz

CAMERON—Funeral services for Lawrence Patrick Zotz, 90, of Cameron will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 19, 2012, at St. Monica’s Catholic Church in Cameron with Rev. Walter Dhanwar officiating. Burial will be in St. Monica’s Catholic Cemetery.

Vigil and rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron.

Mr. Zotz died Sunday, Oct. 14, in a Temple hospital.

He was born Oct. 19, 1921, in Clarksville, Arkansas, to Otto George and Frances Josephine (Kleeschulte) Zotz.

Mr. Zotz graduated from C.H. Yoe High and Tyler Commercial College.

He was a World War II veteran, serving in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater from 1942 until 1945 as a yeoman in the U.S. Naval Intelligence Service.

He married Margaret Caroline Evans on Oct. 28, 1945.

Mr. Zotz was employed as an accountant, paymaster and cost analyst for Alcoa, retiring in 1983.

He was a Cameron City Councilman for over 10 years and was mayor of Cameron from 1976 until 1978.

Mr. Zotz was a member of St. Monica’s Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Zotz of Cameron; two sons, Lawrence Patrick Zotz of Maryville, Tennessee, Edward Michael Zotz of McKinney; three daughters, Margaret Caroline Zotz of Cameron, Frances Louise King and Elizabeth Marie Jackson, both of Rosebud; and a sister, Florence Oliver of Carrollton; also, nine grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
