DPS troopers probe South Milam accidents
State troopers in the Rockdale area were called to several vehicle crashes in addition to the fatal crash just after midnight Saturday which claimed the life of a well-known professional rodeo cowboy personality. (See page 8A).

Program inspired by documentary maker Ken Burns’ film on park system
El Camino Real de los Tejas National Historic Trail Association, which runs near Rockdale, has been selected as one of 49 national parks and trails participating in the 2012 America’s Best Idea program sponsored by the National Park Foundation, the official charity of America’s national parks. Senior Citizen Center facing cutbacks
Hour cut from daily schedule, possibility of one-day-per week closing looms
A funding crunch is forcing Rockdale’s Senior Citizen Center to cut back on its hours and a possibility exists the center may have to close one day per week.
Carolyn Cooper, center director, told The Reporter that as of Wednesday, the facility is cutting back on its hours, from eight to seven each day. Full Story
Bronc rider champ dies in pickup crash
Travis Darling won major PRCA honors
A well-known, and well-respected professional rodeo cowboy died early Sunday when his pickup left FM 487 and rolled over northwest of Rockdale.
Travis Darling, 23, was pronounc ed dead at the scene, about seven miles northwest of Rock- dale, about a mile north of the FM 1600 intersect ion, according to the Department of Public Safety. Full Story

Children Craft Day set at Baptist Church
Gause Baptist Church will sponsor a Children Craft Day on Saturday, Nov. 10 at the Family Life Center. This is open to youth age three through 5th grade in school. Buddy Oney Toy Run set for December 1st
The seventh annual Buddy Oney Toy Run will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 1, beginning at The Ranch, located at 415 West Hwy 79 in Rockdale, according to Charles Starr, spokesman.
All the proceeds and toys from this years run will go to Milam County Needy Children. Proceeds will be split between Milam County Child Protective Services (CPS) and Christmas Roundup, he said. Full Story
