Services for Don H. Roddam, 81, of Rockdale were held Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012, in Phillips & Luckey Chapel with Rev. Jack Chelf Jr. and Walter Pond officiating. Burial followed in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale.
Mr . Roddam died Satu rday, Oct. 27th, in Richards Memorial Hospital.
He was born April 23, 1931, in Groesbeck to Don Foy and Willie Vera (Holland) Roddam.
He married Ouita Henry on Dec. 23, 1951, in First Baptist Church in Rockdale. They have been Rockdale residents since 1954 and owned a Mobil oil distributorship.
Mr. Roddam was a Korean Conflict veteran, serving in the U.S. Air Force as a staff sergeant.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Rockdale where he served as deacon for many years.
Mr. Roddam was a Rockdale I. S.D. school board member during the ’60s, late ’70s, and ’80s, serving as president in the ’80s.
He was a member of Rockdale Masonic Lodge 414 AF& AM, Lions Club, Minerva and Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department, Rockdale Roping & Cutting Club and served as their officer, high school sports referee, timer for the Rockdale Relays and was on the selection commit tee for the Rockdale Sports Hall of Honor.
Mr. Roddam was preceded in death by his wife, Ouita, on April 1, 2011; a daughter, Sandi Richter on Jan. 21, 2011; his parents; a son-in-law, Bob Graham, on May 14, 2012; and a grandson, Reagan Graham on Dec. 1, 1980.
Survivors are a son, Ward Roddam and wife Kathryne of Rockdale; two daughters, Shel ley Eanes and husband Jim, and Renda Graham, all of Rockdale; a son-in-law, Ricky Richter of Buckholts; six grandchildren, Rainey Eanes of Houston, Rock and Deanna Eanes, Kassie Roddam and Kourtney Roddam, all of Rockdale, Katie and Daniel Koeneke of McAllen, Choya and Brandon Vaculin of Cameron; six great-grandchildren, Sydney and Macie Vaculin, Ryleigh and Reagan Eanes, Briana and Marissa Mireles; and a great-great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Garcia.
Pallbearers were “The Midway Crew”—Jimmy Keen, Kent Greenway, Frank Burford, Raymond Lawson, Tommy Watson and Rick Henderson.
Honorary pallbearers were Billy Headrick, Betty Headrick, Dorothy Lawson, Walter Pond, Dr. Lucile Estell, Forest Sapp, Clifford Angell, Clifford Caffey Clifford Sims and Paul Dixon.
