Milam voters strong for Romney, pick Morgan, Fisher in local races
Milam County voters turned in a near Republican rout in Tuesday’s general election as the GOP swept all county-wide races and all but one at the precinct level.
District Judge John Youngblood was re-elected and Republican challenger Bill Torrey unseated three-term Democratic Prosecutor Kerry Spears in a pair of super-heated political races. Full Story
OUT OF THE PAST (AND OUT OF THE FOG)....
It just seemed appropriate, 70 trail riders and 15 wagons rolling out of the fog from historic Apache Pass Saturday morning in the largest mounted event from the weekend’s Texas Trail Riders Convention. Apache Pass was the host site for the event which drew about 150 participants, according to spokesperson Sue Eubanks. Full Story
MDD open house, master plan session set Thursday
Rockdale residents who are concerned with our community’s future can take advantage of an open house and another chance to provide input for a proposed master plan Thursday.

Veterans program Monday
RISD hosting citywide observance, 1 p.m. at Tiger Field
Rockdale veterans will be honored at 1 p.m. Monday, the day after the traditional Nov. 11 Veterans Day, in a giant outdoor ceremony at Tiger Field.
There will also be three meals during the day honoring veterans, breakfasts at Veterans of Foreign Wars posts in Rockdale and Thorndale and lunch at Rockdale Junior-High School. Full Story
Two house fires, two wrecks for busy VFD
It was “one of those weeks” for Rockdale VFD firefighters who were called to two house fires and two major Rockdale wrecks in a six-day period.
Extensive fire damage was reported to the Albert Weller home at 332 Cedar Grove Road in Minerva at 4:04 a.m. Monday. Full Story
Depot-benefit chili meal set for Fair Park
The Rockdale Historical Society will hold its annual homemade chili meal from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in the New Salem HD Clubhouse at Fair Park.
Proceeds from the meal will go toward the restored I&GN Depot-Museum, a project of the Historical Society. Full Story
