MDD open house, master plan session set Thursday

Rockdale residents who are concerned with our community’s future can take advantage of an open house and another chance to provide input for a proposed master plan Thursday.

Both are informal “come and go” events.

The Rockdale Municipal Development District (MDD) will hold an open house from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at the MDD headquarters, 114 East Cameron (Bit of History building).

The second of two master plan meetings follows from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Patterson Civic Center on Mill Street. (The first master plan session was held Oct. 30).

MDD—Rockdale MDD board members and staff, including Executive Director Tom Manskey, will be on hand to greet those attending the open house.

A ribbon cutting with the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce will be held at 4:15 p.m.

“This is an opportunity to acquire information and express your valued opinion about Rockdale 2022 (goals from community meetings earlier this year),” Manskey said.

MASTER PLAN—City Manager Kelvin Knauf said the draft Comprehensive Master Plan, prepared by the city’s Planning & Zoning Board, will be presented in a “very informal” session.

“Goals and objectives of the master plan will be presented, along with recommendations,” he said.

The public will be provided with sticky notes and invited to post their questions, comments and suggestions, he said.
