Panel hears report on Luminant emissions
Mine and power plant updates preceded presentation of the annual report on emissions to the Luminant Community Advisory Panel (LCAP) in October, according to Diane Sheridan, facilitator.
LCAP members learned that Dragline 80 is as close to FM 696 as it is ever expected to be and is mining four seams of coal in the north end of the mine pit, she said. Full Story

JUST THE START—This major vehicle accident on West Cameron Avenue (US 79) in front of CEFCO at 1:57 p.m. last Wednesday (Oct. 31) was just the start of a busy long weekend for the Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department. Extensive damages were reported when vehicles operated by Misty Grabener, 35, of Rockdale, and Bettyna Lopez, 19, of College Station. Full Story
One hurt after three vehicles hit cow in road
A cow wandering onto Texas 36 south of Milano Friday night was hit by at least three vehicles, sending a driver to a Bryan hospital, according to Trooper Donald Delukie.
Delukie said Keisha Sams, 27, of Glenn Heights, was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital after her vehicle struck the animal about 11:20 p.m. Full Story
Two incumbents fall, one returned in Gause ISD election
GAUSE—There was another Milam County election Tuesday, as voters in the Gause ISD went to the polls to select three school board members from a field of five, including three incumbents.
Dr. Henry Bonorden led the at-large ballot, polling 171 votes.
Also elected were Linda Hoppe with 167 votes and Tammy Smith with 142. Full Story
MINERVA FIRE—At daybreak Monday it was possible to assess the damage done to a Minerva home in a fire just before daybreak that chased four members of the Albert Weller family from their home. Full Story
