Roundup applications available in Rockdale

Applications for Christmas Roundup 2012 are now available, according to Ann King, spokesperson.

Deadline to nominate families or individuals who are in need of assistance this Christmas will be Sunday, December 9.

Applications can be picked up at The Rockdale Reporter, Lucy Hill Patterson Memorial Library, One-Stop Center, Citizens National Bank, Classic Bank, Rockdale Federal Credit Union, Rockdale Chamber of Commerce, Rockdale Signs and Photography, Rockdale City Hall and local churches.

Knights of Columbus Hall on Highway 79 will be open from 5-7 pm on Tuesday, December 18, to accept donations of food and toys.

On Wednesday, Dec. 19, the KC Hall will open at 9 am for volunteers to help fill boxes for delivery to needy families.

Delivery date for food and gifts will be Thursday, December 20, beginning at 9 am. Volunteers are especially needed to help with the delivery.

Sheriff’s blood drive set Nov. 26 in Cameron

CAMERON—The Milam County Sheriff’s Department will host a blood drive Nov. 26 at the Law Enforcement Center, 512 North Jefferson, in Cameron.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Sheriff David Greene said to sign up for donating blood, call Cindy McBee at 254-697-7063.

November donors will receive a snowf lake ornament, donor calendar, coupon for a large Sonic drink and a chance to win a $100 HEB gift card.

First Christian plans Thanksgiving luncheon

First Christian Church will again host its annual free Thanksgiving luncheon, according to John Elbert Fischer, spokesman.

“The meal will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the church, located at the corner of Bell and Scarbrough,” he said.

“Everyone is invited,” Fischer said. “This allows those without the means, or a family, to enjoy a Thanksgiving dinner with neighbors and friends.”

Fischer said delivery to shut-ins is also available if reservations are called in by 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20 at 446-5090.

“We are also encouraging people to give monetary donations and volunteer time to help in this community event,” he said.

Anyone wanting to volunteer may call the church at the above number between 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, he said.

Santa Letter signup scheduled for Roundup

Christmas Roundup’s “Letters from Santa” fund-raiser is in its second year.

The personalized letters “from Santa” are printed on quality themed paper and addressed to the child.

Cost is $5 with checks payable to Christmas Roundup. Personalized acrylic ornaments are on sale for $5 each.

Commissioners table discount savings card

CAMERON—Milam County commissioners, meeting Monday in regular session due to the Veterans Day county holiday, heard a presentation on a discount savings card for counties, but tabled the matter for further discssion.

The presentation on the Coast 2 Coast Card was made by Christine Box, Milam County Indigent Health Care director, and Patsy Gaines, Milam County Health Unit director.

Commissioners tabled the matter pending a presentation by Coast 2 Coast representatives.

In other business, commissioners:

• Recognized November as Home Health Care and Hospice Month.

• Recognized Standard Home Health for its services to county residents.
