Two treated after US 79 crash
Two men were sent to area hospitals last Wednesday night after a two vehicle crash on US 79 east of Thorndale.

Rising Star hosts annual service
Rev. Leslie Adams, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, will deliver the sermon during Rockdale’s annual Community Thanksgiving Service, set for 7 p.m. Tuesday at Rising Star Church.
Rev. Jack Chelf, interim president of the Rockdale Ministerial Alliance, said an offering taken during the service will be partly donated to Rockdale Christian Service Food Pantry. Full Story
Oney Toy Run set for Dec. 1st
The seventh annual Buddy Oney Toy Run will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, beginning at The Ranch, 415 W. Hwy. 79 in Rockdale, according to Charles Starr, spokesman.
All proceeds and toys from this years run will go to Milam County Needy Children. Proceeds will be split between Milam County Child Protective Services (CPS) and Christmas Roundup, he said. Full Story

Cutting the grass at Fair Park this November for city employees, including Basilio Salazar above, is a world away from November, 2011. That fall came at the end of a record summer of drought and 100-degree heat and left little to mow under the park’s giant oak trees. Full Story

City employee Wayne Hubnik takes this well-used sofa for a final ride during Rockdale’s annual fall Stash Your Trash Day at Fair Park Saturday morning. The collection drew 280 cubic yards of metal and trash. Another Stash Your Trash will be scheduled in spring 2013. Full Story
