Buddy Oney toy run set on Saturday

Bikers to start trek 11 a.m. at The Ranch

The seventh annual Buddy Oney Toy Run will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, beginning at The Ranch, according to Charles Starr, spokesman.

Proceeds and toys raised will be split between Milam County Child Protective Services (CPS) and Christmas Roundup, he said.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. with first bike out at 11. Fee is $15 per rider, $20 per rider and passenger or a new toy valued at $20, Starr said.

The fee will include a meal after the ride for all participants.

There will also be a 50/50 drawing, door prizes and DJ music. Short sleeve T-shirts are on sale for $20 the day of the run. Long sleeve shirts will be $25 and available by pre-order only from Cynthia Ferrell at 512- 698-2784.

Sponsors, and stops for the 2012 run, are Bob’s Steakhouse in Cameron, Cliff’s Tavern in Rockdale, Cyndi’s Hawg Hang Out in Hogg, Nat’s in Milano and The Ranch.

Last bike in will be no later than 4:30 p.m., he said.

The Buddy Oney Toy Run is organized by Bad To The Bone Riders.

“With the economy the way it is in our area right now, it seems that there are more children and families right here in Milam County than ever before who need a helping hand,” Starr said.

“We are trying to bring people from all over Texas to support our efforts, much like the success we have had on our MARC Run,” he said.

Starr reminded participants that they don’t have to own a motorcycle to support this ride. “All bikes, trikes, cars and trucks are welcome,” he said.

“This ride will be held, rain or shine,” he said.
