Kids’ activities, shopping, story time to precede huge lighted night event
Santa Claus is coming to Rockdale Saturday as part of a day-long “Christmas in the Country Party” that features the traditional night lighted Christmas parade along with activities at the I&GN Depot and Wolf Park.

Gooding, a 34-year veteran of the pole-painting profession, ascended the 50-foot flagpole at the Rockdale Post Office last week to apply a new coat of paint, including the shiny gold ball on top (at left). Rockdale Chamber of Commerce, which will administer Rockdale’s hotel-motel tax only four more weeks, will now apply for some of the funds it used to control. Full Story
Lady Tigers grab second spot in own tournament
Mitchell returns to save the day in Tuesday’s win
The Rockdale Lady Tigers’ loss in the championship game of the lady Tiger Classic was tempered by the return of sophomore guard Velma Mitchell.
The Lady Tigers fell to Robinson 67-29 in the finale after defeating Thrall 27-15 and Austin Lanier 52-10.
With a 45-41 victory over Academy Tuesday night, the Lady Tigers improved to 4-5 on the young season. Full Story

Thorndale closes out most successful season in years
MARBLE FALLS—The Thorndale Bulldogs had already experienced one of their best playoff runs in recent history.
Somehow at the end, that feat just wasn’t enough.

Saturday was Market Day in Rockdale, where vendor booths were set up at Tisket A Tasket, 1614 West Cameron (US 79). Market Day takes place once a quarter on the first Saturday of March, June, September and December. Full Story
GFL expansion boost Nov. city building permits
The City of Rockdale’s building permit numbers are up the first month for November, according to numbers released by city hall. That is due in part to GFL Americas adding a third building to their Rockdale facility located on US 77.
Permit numbers were up for the month, with $164,476 issued in November, compared to $35,200 in October. Full Story
Thorndale rings in December with Chamber Christmas parade, Santa visit, arts and crafts
Santa was here. It was Chamber of Commerce weather Dec. 1, for the Thorndale Parade sponsored by the Thorndale Area Chamber of Commerce (TACC). With entries from near and far plus the Shriner’s from Austin, the parade was a big hit with young and old alike. Full Story
