Warm feelings greet parade, party

Winners listed from annual Christmas fete

Reporter/Mike Brown Rockdale Lions Club ‘ train’ won President’s Award. Marine World War II veteran Gene Luckey was grand marshal. Reporter/Mike Brown Christmas is a time for warm feelings and Rockdale’s parade and party certainly generated those Saturday.

Hig h dur ing the d ay climbed to 81 and the night, lighted parade was held in balmy 60-degree weather.

Of course, once Rockdale’s Christmas party was over, the season’s strongest cold front yet blew in the next day, dropping the mercury into the 30s.

In addition to the parade, the day featured a number of events in and around the I&GN Historical Depot and musical entertainment in the Wolf Park pavilion

Winners from Saturday events were listed as follows by the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce:

PARADE

Best overall— Milam County Sheriff’s Department.


Milam County Sheriff’s Department’s Brown Santa stagecoach was judged the best overall entry in Rockdale’s parade. Sheriff David Greene was at the helm, accompanied by executive administrative assistant Wynema Adams and Zoe Clore. Best decorated— Lee’s Landing-Brady’s Pest Control.

Best religious entry— Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
