Late rally lifts purple Tigers to victory

The Lady Tigers dip to 5-8 on the season while Thrall improves to 5-7.

Thrall broke open a tight game in the final period, outscoring the Lady Tigers 11-5.

Rockdale had led 16-14 at halftime and 26-23 heading into the fourth quarter.

Post Shelby Evans delivered eight points, nine rebounds, two steals and two blocks.

Stiil easing back into playing time after foot surgery, Velma Mitchell scored five points and added three rebounds and three steals in just 18 minutes of play.

Franklin Tournament

The Lady Tigers went 1-2 in the Franklin Tournament, picking up a 29-5 victory over Oakridge.

Rockdale fell to Cameron 50-41 and West 61-25.

Against Oakridge, Evans was the only double-digit Lady Tiger in the low-scoring affair with 10 points, while gathering up nine rebounds, two steals and a block.

Samantha Muston and Robertson helped the Lady Tigers control the boards with six boards apiece as Rockdale led 17-3 at intermission.

In the loss to West, the Lady Tigers continued to struggle from the floor, connecting on just 11-of- 42 shots for 26 percent accuracy.

Evans posted eight points, six rebounds and four blocks.

Robertson grabbed seven rebounds.

In the loss to Cameron, Evans turned in a double-double with 16 points and 12 boards.

Robertson gobbled up seven rebounds to complement Evans.

The Lady Tigers picked off 11 steals, led by Henderson’s four and Velma Mitchell’s three.
