Manor Oaks volunteers appreciated as ‘blessing’

Dear editor,

Having my husband as resident at Manor Oaks Nursing Home, I have had the opportunity to see many of the loving gestures that have happened there during the Christmas season.

The staff, nurses and everyone decorated the building just beautifully, a lovely dinner was held for residents and their families and each of the nurses took a patient’s name and gave them a gift.

Many individuals, groups and organizations came to offer gifts and entertainment to make the season festive for the residents.

I want to send a special thankyou to the following for their participation:

RHS Student Council, RHS PALS, RHS FFA, RHS Friends of Rachel, Gospel Life Church, Communities in Concert Band, Aglow Women’s Group, I-Tigers, Jon Flores, Steven Noack, First Christian Church, Rockdale Rotary Club, N-Motion Dance Studio, Dixie Whitmore piano students, Mary Ross piano students, Rockdale Elementary Pre-K classes and Kindergarten classes and Linda Crane and Josie Os made cakes for the dinner.

Then there are the special people who come out weekly or monthly for the whole year to hold devotionals, sing, play their guitars, assist at bingo or birthday parties.

You have all become so special to the residents and their families.

They are:

Peggy Hosek, LeAnn Wilde, John Fisher, Duck Shuffield, George and Lynn Weaver, Rockda le Ful l Gospel Church, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, First Baptist Church, Murray Street Church of Christ, Pat Watson, The Meadowlarks, Rockdale Christian Church, Meadowbrook Baptist Church, Harvest Bible Church, Don Hutton.

Folks, you are all such a blessing to so many people. Just know that we all appreciate you so much in making the lives of all the residents and their families a whole lot better.

Many, many thanks.
