Funeral services for Gerald Lee “Jerry” Marquis, 85, were held Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at Forest Grove Christian Church near Rockdale. Burial was in Forest Grove Cemetery, with Pastor Lance Welch officiating.

Mr. Marquis died Monday, Dec. 24, in Indian Oaks Nursing Center in Harker Heights.

He was born Dec. 26, 1926, in Cuero to Louis Henry and Sally (Spence) Weller.

Mr. Marquis was a graduate of Cuero High School and Texas A&I University in Kingsville, a graduate of their first engineering class.

He worked as an electrical engineer with Dresser/Atlas in Houston for 30 years, retiring in 1987.

During that time he lived in Argentina from 1970 to 1971 and then from 1976 to 1978 he lived in England and was head of European operations.

Mr. Marquis enjoyed traveling, fishing, gardening, working in his yard and family get-togethers.

He married Saundra Musgrove on June 7, 1986, in Houston. They have lived in Houston, then in Point Blank for nine years and moved to Morgans Point in 1996.

Mr. Marquis was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Kenneth Marquis; and a sister, Ann Taylor.

Survivor are his wife, Saundra Marquis of Morgans Point Resort; four daughters, Roxanna Collier and husband Tom of Bellville, Carrie Marquis of Houston, Sarah Bavousett and husband Neal of Spring Branch, Abby Brady and husband Mike of Austin; a stepson, Michael Huddle of Columbus, Ohio; two brothers, Clyde Marquis of Dallas, Henry Marquis and wife Pat of Houston; and six grandchildren, Carah Garrison, Jamie Garrison, Olivia Brady, Jason Brady, Adam Huddle and Annie Huddle; also, many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Tom Collier, Neal Bavousett, Mike Brady, Wayne Marquis, David Taylor and Paul Taylor.

The burn ban for Milam County has been lifted. Burning is always prohibited in the county's municipalities.
