Davenport

AUSTIN—Virginia Davenport of Lakeway died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, in her home after losing a long battle with cancer.

She was born in Rockdale on Aug. 18, 1935, to Willie Mae and Bobbie Davenport.

Ms. Davenport was a student and basketball player at Rockdale High School, Class of 1954.

She was an avid outdoorsman and her favorite sport was salt water fishing at Rockport. She enjoyed catching red fish and giving the filets to friends.

Ms. Davenport was an active member of Lakeway Church and devoted much time to helping elderly friends.

Being an animal lover, she was associated with Bark ’n Purr Pet Center on Burnet Road in Austin for 35 years, where she met many of her friends.

Ms. Davenport is survived by her best friend, Betty Rollings; a niece, Vicki Sue; her sister-in-law Reba; and two cousins, Dora Lee and Lou.

She requested a celebration of her life instead of memorial services.

Memorials may be made to the Austin SPCA Human Society.
