Lash

IOLA—A memorial service for Kenneth Howard “Papa” Lash, 82, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at Iola Worship Center in Iola with Bro. Cloyce Johnson officiating.

Mr. Lash died Saturday, Jan. 5, in Bryan.

He was born Aug. 26, 1930, in Auburn, Nebraska, to Charles and Lois (Posco) Lash.

Mr. Lash served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was an active member of both the VFW and American Legion.

Mr. Lash enjoyed tinkering with his tools and building things and he worked as a mechanic.

He also loved his pets and was active with his church family at the Iola Worship Center.

Mr. Lash was preceded in death by his wife, Doris (Tidrow) Lash; his parents, Charles and Lois Lash; and a grandson, Tony McGuire.

Survivors are two sons, Tommy McGuire and wife Bonnie Mattson of Iola, Charlie “Mickey” McGuire and wife Cathy of Denison; six grandchildren, Michael John Mattson, Michael Paul Prestwood, John Glenn McGuire, Clayton Alan McGuire, Haley McGuire and Robert Ohde; two great-grandchildren, Rachel Patricia McGuire and Charley Wren Ohde; and a sister, Norma Cotton and husband George of Arizona; also, many nieces and nephews.

The burn ban for Milam County has been lifted. Burning is always prohibited in the county's municipalities.
