It does feel like winter now, doesn’t it!
I know just what will warm you up perfectly.
Rockdale Noon Lions are holding a series of Soup Suppers on Thursdays during January.
The serving will be from 5 to 7 p.m. at the New Salem Clubhouse at Rockdale Fair Park.
This week the choice of soups will be Chicken and Dumplings, Chuckwagon and Broccoli and Cheese. However, if you’re wanting a sampling of all three, that can be arranged!
Desserts will be a choice of Sinful Delight Cake, Caramel Apple Spice Cake and Sweet Pineapple Cake.
Or as I like to call them, Yum, Yummer and Yummiest.
Fresh rolls or cornbread and tea are also included.
Cost is $5 per ticket. The supper includes soup, bread, dessert and drink (dine-in or take-out).
People can also bring two non-perishable food items for the Rockdale Food Pantry and get $1 off the price of their ticket.
All proceeds will go to the Rockdale Noon Lions Eyesight Program, supporting the children in the Rockdale area.
The Lions club’s 13th annual Mardi Gras Pancake and Bacon Supper is planned for Tuesday, Feb. 12, also at the New Salem Clubhouse.
The time will be from 5-7:30 p.m. Tickets will be $7 for adults and $5 for ages 6-12. Ages 5 & under eat FREE!
Tickets will also be available at the door.
The Rockdale High School Jazz ensemble will provide music from 5-6 p.m. and hopefully the Communities in Concert Band will be available from 6-7 p.m.
I personallly know that cute drummer guy in the Concert Band and maybe I have a little pull there. I know my Mom does so I won’t hesitate to recruit her help if necessary!
Children’s activities are also planned and a face painting and mask making contest are a few of the ideas being tossed around.
So don’t miss this Mardi Gras celebration, complete with beads, masks, fun and decor.
However, you have my word no one will have to flash anyone for their beads. Or for their pancakes.
