Rockdale Lions to hold soup suppers Thursdays in January

Rockdale Noon Lions Club is holding “soup suppers” during January as a fund-raiser, according to Gloria Thrasher, spokesperson.

The suppers are held from 5 until 7 p.m. each Thursday during January at New Salem HD Clubhouse at Fair Park.

The Thursday, Jan. 17, soup choices will include chicken and dumplings, chuckwagon and broccoli and cheese.

Desserts will be a choice of sinful delight cake or caramel apple spice cake. Fresh rolls or cornbread and tea are also included.

Cost is $5 per ticket. The supper includes soup, bread, dessert and drink (dine-in or take-out).

“People can also bring two non-perishable food items and get $1 off the price of their ticket,” Thrasher said.

All proceeds will go to the Rockdale Noon Lions Eyesight Program, supporting the children in the Rockdale area.

The club’s Mardi Gras Pancake Supper is planned for Tuesday, Feb. 12.
