Two injured in US 79 accident

Two persons were transported to an area hospital after a one-vehicle accident Friday, according to Department of Public Safety state troopers.

Trooper Broderick Sims said a vehicle operated by Austin Turner of Gause left the highway about 3 p.m., east of Milano.

Turner was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital, Bryan, by medical helicopter, while a passenger, 22-year-old Danielle Bonorden of Gause, was taken to St. Joseph’s by an AMR ambulance crew.

Vehicle damage was termed extensive.

No injuries were reported in a 1:30 a.m. Jan. 8 one-vehicle accident on FM 908, north of County Road 334, according to Trooper J. C. Brooks.

He listed the driver as Antonio Pope, 51, of Rockdale. Damages were listed as moderate.

Brooks said the driver swerved to avoid a deer.
