Young

Services for Velma Young, 95, were held Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at the Forest Grove Christian Church near Rockdale with Rev. Lance Walch officiating. Burial followed in Forest Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. Young died Friday, Jan. 11, in Scott & White Hospital in Temple.

She was born on July 14, 1917, in Milam County to Ephraim and Jessie Edna (Price) Diver.

She married Zeke Hardy Young on Nov. 24, 1937, in Rockdale. They made their home in Rockdale in 1952.

Mrs. Young was a member of Forest Grove Christian Church.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed flowers, cross stitch, crochet and crafts.

Mrs. Young was also a member of the New Salem Home Demonstration Club, the Garden Club and the Ladies Group at the church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Wesley E. Diver and Vernice N Diver; two sisters, Jessie Rae Keen and Joy V. Coulter.

Survivors are two sons, Ephraim Zeke Young and wife Louise of Rockdale,

Douglas Wayne Young and wife Pamala A. of Palmer; also, 12 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Stephen Young, Derek Young, Mark Skrhak, Michael Skrhak, Don Waddle and Jeremy Robinson.

Honorary pallbearers were Johnny Young and Lee Young.

The burn ban for Milam County has been lifted. Burning is always prohibited in the county's municipalities.
