Wednesday (Jan. 30) is the first day to file for May 11 city and school board elections in Texas and there will be six positions filled in Rockdale, with the terms of mayor and the current school board president expiring. Full Story
County Judge to appoint replacement for Tomek
CAMERON—Precinct 1 County Commissioner George Tomek, sworn in to a second term just four weeks ago, resigned his post at Monday’s commissioners court, citing a business opportunity.
Tomek said he was going to work as a sales consultant for an asphalt company. His resignation is effective Feb. 14. Full Story
Trustees take no action on superintendent pact
Rockdale ISD trustees took no action on the contract of Supt. Dr. Howell Wright Jr. Thursday after an executive session in the Central Administration Building.
Dr. Wright’s current cont rac t would expire June 30, but trustees must act on it before then.

MDD still eyes business park potential
Ownership info sought by board
The Rockdale Municipal Development District (MDD) sees potential uses for the H. H. Coffield Industrial Park, but first it has to find out who owns what.
Af ter an executive session Thursday, MDD board members authorized executive director Tom Manskey to continue seeking ownership information on the park, located just north of the city limits on FM 487. Full Story
Band boosters set spaghetti supper Monday
Rockdale Band Boosters will hold their annual spaghetti supper from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday in the junior-high commons.
The spaghetti supper is the major fund-raiser of each school year for the Band Boosters. Full Story
