Trustees take no action on superintendent pact

Dr. Wright Dr. Wright Rockdale ISD trustees took no action on the contract of Supt. Dr. Howell Wright Jr. Thursday after an executive session in the Central Administration Building.

Dr. Wright’s current cont rac t would expire June 30, but trustees must act on it before then.

“Future action on the contract is anticipated,” school board president Lee Jenkins said.

“In fact, we have to take action 30 days prior to the contract’s expiration date,” Jenkins added.

There was no vote of any kind on Thursday.

The board went through the annual contract evaluation process in executive session, then came back into regular session and adjourned without any motions or votes being taken.

Dr. Wright was hired in 2010 to replace Walter Pond who retired. He was given a three-year contract.

In the Rockdale ISD, superintendents are traditionally evaluated each January.

In 2011, his three-year contract was extended by one year, making the expiration date June, 2013.

After last year’s assessment, Dr. Wright was given a 2-percent pay raise, in line with those received by other district employees.
