Annual Gause ISD book fair slated Feb. 11-15 at school library

Upcoming activities that will take place at the Gause ISD in February (can you believe it’s February) will include the annual book fair. Open house for this will be held in the Gause School Library on Monday, Feb. 11 (don’t have the time yet.) The book fair will run Feb. 11-15 in the library. More info on the annual activity next week.

This next news note just hit me hard— cheerleading and mascot tryouts will be held on Feb. 28. The reason is hit me hard is my granddaughter, Kendall will not be trying out this year, she is an eighth grader and next school year a ninth grader and into another school system and tryouts for the sports activities there.

There will be a cheerleader and mascot clinic held Feb. 25-27 in the gym. Moms and dads get ready.

Gause ISD Basketball Tournament over the weekend was a lot of fun. Teams joining Gause were Milano, Dew, Brazos Christian and Allen Academy. They all played well, just some did a little better. Brazos Christian boys won first place and Gause boys second. Gause girls won first place and Brazos Christian girls won second. Thanks to all of the schools who participated, you played well.

It was good to see the stands were filled with parents, grandparents, family members and friends supporting these youth. Our grandson Jaxon’s dad Bryan Hayles and brother Tristan from Texas City came on Saturday to see the games. Jaxon returned home with them for the weekend.

Gause girls and boys teams will be playing Allen Academy here in Gause beginning at 5 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 4.

Elaine and Eugene Baumann and daughter Melissa Shehane and son Will of Bryan attended the festivities held for the Cameron Yoemen state winning football team at the Cameron ISD Performing Arts Center on Saturday evening. Elaine had a chance to visit with these young men and others whom she taught in their earlier years. Melissa is a Cameron graduate and she got to visit with some of her former classmates.

Gause Community Improvement Program wi ll meet at 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4 in the Gause Community Center. They will be making some plans for the annual Founders Day to be held later in the year. You are invited to be a part of this community activity.

Gause 4-H Club will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5 in the school library. All interested youth are encouraged to attend and become a part of the Milam County 4-H program.
