Rotary sets annual lawn fertilizer sales for scholarship fund

Rockdale Rotary Club members are launching their annual lawn fertilizer sales which raises funds for the club’s annual awarding of scholarships to deserving Rockdale High School seniors.

The sale, plus a spring golf tournament, are the club’s two main fund-raisers. Last year, the Rotarians awarded $11,000 in scholarships.

Kerry Starnes, sales chair, said the 40-pound bags of the 15-5-10 product remain priced at $13 per bag. The blend is recommended for Rockdale’s sandy soils. “It performs well for St. Augustine, Bermuda, Zoysia, Centipede, Blue Grass, Carpet, Buffalo and other lawn types,” Starnes said.

Sales will continue through February. Rotarians will deliver the fertilizer to buyers’ homes or businesses about March 1 and 2.

For more information, or to place an order, contact Starnes, 446-5841, or any Rotarian.
