Alumni baseball games first pitch on Feb. 16

After a one year hiatus due to bad weather last year, the 5th Annual Tiger Baseball Alumni Scrimmage is back.

This year’s scrimmage will be held on February 16 and will follow the usual format.

There will be two alumni teams and the 2013 varsity team. Any ex-baseball player of Rockdale High School is invited to play.

“We will play a round-robin format, meaning each team will play two games,” said Rockdale Coach Clay Cox. “I will provide all baseballs, bats, helmets, and catchers gear. You will need to bring your own cleats, baseball pants, and glove.

There will be a concession stand for food and drinks starting with the first game at 11 a.m.

Each scrimmage will be conducted like a typical scrimmage. There will be umpires and all other workers required to run off a game or scrimmage.

Therefore, all friends and family planning on attending the scrimmage should still expect to pay a small fee at the game to get in.

Alumni coming to play in the scrimmage will not pay to get in, but will need to pay $10 for their “Game Day” shirt.

Checks can be made payable to Rockdale ISD or Rockdale Athletic Department, PO Box 632, Rockdale, TX 76567. Payment must be paid at the time of registration.

You can also hand deliver payment to Denise Betchan at the Athletic Office. Please sign up before Feb. 1

“I look forward to carrying on the alumni scrimmage tradition and getting to meet former players of our program,” Cox said. “We would like to thank each of you in advance that are able to play, and for those that are not, hopefully we can see you next year.”
