Rockdale permits down for month
City building permits issued for the month of January totaled $47,306, according to Rockdale city hall officials.
Permits are down for the month, where $867,638 in permits were handed out in December, due in large part to the new $690,000 new McDonald’s building being constructed.
Permit totals for the fiscal year, which just started in October, now sit at $1,114,620. Full Story

The Thorndale Area Chamber of Commerce (TACC) and the Milam County Farm Bureau will host an estate planning workshop at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19 at the TACC building, 120 South Main Street in downtown Thorndale. Full Story
Central Texas Baylor scholarship brunch set Feb. 16th
TEMPLE—The 19th annual Central Texas Baylor Scholarship Brunch will be held 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, Feb. 16 at Wildf lower Country Club in Temple. A silent auction will be held and all funds go to the Central Texas Endowed Scholarship at Baylor University. Every year, students from this area are awarded needs-based scholarships, with four students each year being the recipients. Full Story
