Rockdale permits down for month

City building permits issued for the month of January totaled $47,306, according to Rockdale city hall officials.

Permits are down for the month, where $867,638 in permits were handed out in December, due in large part to the new $690,000 new McDonald’s building being constructed.

Permit totals for the fiscal year, which just started in October, now sit at $1,114,620.

Permits are issued at City Hall and reflect only construction in the city limits.

Projects permitted for December were: Jeff Noack for Claude Henderson, 1099 Bushdale, demolish house; Done Right Roofing for Donut Palace, 907 W. Cameron, re-roof; The Home Depot for DJ Meschuritz, 1400 O’Kel ley, replace windows; Butch Malone for Nona Dromgoole, 1903 Mistletoe, remove chimney.

Also, Windham Roofing for Kerry Starnes, 424 Green St., roof; Nathan Arbuckle, 710 Cof f ield, wood fence; Bland Construction for First Presbyterian Church, 1600 Alcoa, 50-ft sidewalk and fountain; Miller-Starnes, 476 N. Wilcox, parking lot.

The burn ban for Milam County has been lifted. Burning is always prohibited in the county's municipalities.
