Rockdale Elementary sets book fair Feb. 11-15

Rockdale Elementary School will host its annual book fair Feb. 11-15, according to spokesperson Sherilyn Johnson.

“Funds raised will help purchase books for our library,” Johnson said. “Families, faculty and the community are invited to attend this fun reading event that helps inspire children to become lifelong readers.”

The book fair will feature a “family night” from 3- 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12. Special guest Clifford the Big Red Dog will stop by.

“The book fair offers a wonderful selection of fun, engaging and affordable books kids want to read,” Johnson said.

Perez earns degree from LeTourneau University

LONGVIEW—Leesa Perez of Rockdale, recently received her bachelor’s degree from LeTourneau University at the end of the Fall 2023 semester.

She graduated with a bachelor’s in Interdisciplinary Studies.

Douglas named to Texas State Dean’s List

SAN MARCOS—Ivory Nicole Douglas, of Rockdale, earned a spot on the Dean’s List at Texas State University for the Fall 2012 semester.

Her grade point average was 3.75 and she is a junior communication studies major.

Douglas is the daughter of Linda Henderson and Stanley and Areatha Douglas and the granddaughter of Carrie L. Douglas, all of Rockdale.

Glenn Miller Orchestra coming to Cameron PAC

CAMERON— The wo r ld famous Glenn Miller Orchestra will perform at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10 at the Cameron ISD Performing Arts Center.

Tickets are $15 each and will be available at the door, or can be purchased at the C.H. Yoe High School front kiosk and Cameron Chamber of Commerce, 254-697-4979.

The Glenn Miller Orchestra is known for its big band concert and swing dance numbers. With its unique jazz sound, the Glenn Miller Orchestra is considered one of the greatest bands of all time.

Opening for the Glenn Miller Orchestra will be the Association of Texas Small School Bands for 1A-3A bands Region 8 All-Region Jazz Band.

Rockdale Project Grad selling chance tickets

Rockdale Project Graduation is selling tickets for a chance drawing fund-raiser. First prize is an iPad, second prize is a pair of Beats headphones and third prize is a $100 Visa gift card.

Tickets are $1 each or six for $5. Drawing will be held Feb. 12. Contact RHS seniors to buy tickets or call Debbie Brinkley, 512-446-6060.

RHS yearbooks on sale, brag ads still available

Rockdale High School yearbook sales continue, according to sponsor Glenda Walker.

The best way to order is at www.balfour.com or you can order them in the high school office. The cost is $55 each.
