Incumbent trustee files during first week
The 2013 political year got off to a quick start during the week as two first-time candidates filed for positions on the Rockdale City Council in the May 11 election.
Trent Wages filed for the west ward council seat currently held by Toby Johnson.
Robert B. Lawhon signed up for the east ward position now held by Joyce Dalley. Full Story

Holcombe ‘Mardi Gras’ is Saturday
A “Mardis Gras” event to honor the late Chris Holcombe—Milam County extension agent for more than 30 years— is set for 6 p.m. Saturday at Simon George Hall in Cameron.
Holcombe died Jan. 3. The event will raise money for the Chris Holcombe Memorial Scholarship Fund and will include a Cajun food dinner, auctions, prizes,music and children’s games. Full Story
