‘Craft day’ set for Saturday at Gause FBC Family Life Center

A ll youngsters from age 3 years through fifth grade are invited to a fun-filled Craft Day at the Gause Family Life Center from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9. The Gause Baptist Church youth will be sponsor a Valentine Banquet fund-raiser at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16th at 6 pm in the Family Life Center. Proceeds will be used for a Spring Break activity. Tickets will be $10 per person and can be purchased at Coats Grocery. These youth will appreciate your participating in the activity.

Gause Community Improvement Program will hold its monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11 in the Gause Community Center. Come join us.

On Saturday, Feb.9 there will be a Mardi Gras Celebration at Simon George Hall, 401 S. Karnes in Cameron, with all proceeds benefiting the Christine Holcombe Memorial Scholarship Fund. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 children under 18.

Enjoy Mardi Gras cuisine, door prizes, auction items and games for the kids. Tickets can be purchased at the Cameron Chamber of Commerce, The Rockdale Reporter and Rodenbecks Farm and Ranch in Thorndale.

Remember that next week-Feb. 11-15 the Gause Parents Club will sponsor its annual book fair beginning with Open House at 3 p.m. on Monday.

There will be a basketball game here on Thursday, a tournament at Allen Academy in Bryan the next weekend and basketball season will be over this school year. Next comes track. The first track meet is scheduled for Feb. 28 in Somerville.

Our sincere sympathy to the Wayne Fisher Family at the loss of Patsy this past week. A memorial service was held at the First Baptist Church in Cameron on Saturday.

All of my siblings will become a year older this month, but that doesn’t happen to me until July. Ray and Kay turned 65 on Feb. 3, Sissy’s (Edith) is Feb. 6 and Jimmy’s is Feb. 27. Our oldest son, Craig celebrated his 48th birthday on Feb. 1. Son Lance and son-in-law Chris Cooper will celebrate their birthdays on Feb 19. Happy birthday to all of you and I love you. There may be more in the family this month, but that is all I can remember.
