Dymke

Graveside services for Frank Dymke, 92, of Rockdale were held Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Rockdale with Rev. Jack Chelf officiating.

Mr. Dymke died Tuesday, Jan. 29, at his home in Rockdale.

He was born Nov. 16, 1920, in Rockdale to Frank and Cornelia (Dameron) Dymke.

Mr. Dymke was a graduate of Rockdale High School and the first president of the Rockdale FFA.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps serving in World War II.

Mr. Dymke worked many years at Western Auto in Rockdale. He delivered the Austin American Statesman for 24 years. He also worked for Elliott, Camp and Glaser on their farm.

Mr. Dymke was a member of First Baptist Church and a former member of Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

On May 16, 1942, he married Dorothy Brock in the McVoy home in Rockdale.

Mr. Dymke was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Dymke, on Feb. 26, 2002; a daughter, Lola Ruth Kidd, on March 15, 1992; his parents, three sisters and three brothers.

Survivors are a son, Frank Dymke and wife Barbara of Wortham; two grandchildren, James Kidd of Rockdale, Deena Martin of Wortham; a great-granddaughter, Geneva Chyanne Ruth Kidd of Taylor; and a sister, Flora May Owens of Willis; also, a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were members of area fire departments, Henry Horelica, Travis Yoakum, Butch Malone, Herbie Vaughn, Robert Whitmore and Brady Nelson.

Honorary pallbearers were Clifford Caffey, Jim Eanes, Harold Parsley, John M. Weed III and all members of the Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department.
