Jones

Services for W.F. “Buck” Jones, 84, were held Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home with Rev. Calvin Springer officiating. Burial with military honors was in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale.

Mr. Jones died Thursday, Jan. 24, in Scott & White Hospital in Temple.

He was born June 26, 1928, in Mexia to Ethyl (Perkins) and William Fredrick Jones Sr.

Mr. Jones lived most of his life in Rockdale.

He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of Rockdale VFW Post No. 6525.

Mr. Jones retired in 1980 as an ironworker for Commercial Contractors.

He enjoyed gardening, taking care of his animals and cows, and fishing.

He married Helen Arledge on Feb. 27, 1950, in Milano.

Mr. Jones was preceded in death by a daughter, Debby Stigler, on Oct. 4, 2008; his parents, William Fredrick Jones Sr. and Ethyl Jones Loffland; his stepfather, Ernest Loff land; a son-in-law, Raymond Skrhak, on July 30, 2008; five brothers, Edgar Jones, Roy Jones, Herman Jones, Narvall Jones and Wayne Jones; and two sisters, Louise Phillips and Georgia Turner.

Survivors are his wife, Helen Jones of Rockdale; a daughter, Brenda Skrhak of Rockdale; a sonin law, James Stigler of Rockdale; five grandchildren, Michael Skrhak and wife Jodi, Mark Skrhak and wife Jessica, Jeremy Stigler and Angel Drummond, Abbey Rubio and husband Jay, all of Rockdale; seven great-grandsons, Jared Skrhak, Joshua Skrhak, Gage Skrhak, Ryan Skrhak, Zeb Skrhak, Jagger Rubio, Maddox Rubio; two sisters, Geneva Gandy of Gause, Betty Wadlington and husband Bennie of Cameron; two brothersin law, Herbie Phillips of Gause, Gene Arledge and wife Boy of Rockdale; and two sisters-inlaw, Estelle Praesel of Rockdale, Jeanene Clark of Rockdale; also, numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Jay Rubio, Mark Skrhak, Michael Skrhak, Jeremy Stigler, Terry Arledge and Bennie Wayne Jones.
