Reporter/Mike Brown Reporter/Mike Brown ONE MORE WEEK—TxDOT had announced FM 486 just south of San Gabriel, at the San Gabriel River, would narrow to one lane on Monday but, on that rainy day, drivers were greeted with a sign announcing the switch was to be Tuesday, Feb. 19. TxDOT contractor James Construction is performing a major upgrade on the river-sloughs bridge complex, widening the current 22-foot road to 44 feet, including two 12-foot driving lanes and two 10-foot shoulders. A fall completion date is estimated for the $1.9-million project. Signals will direct traffic.
