Hubert

Graveside services for Raymond “Blackie” Hubert, 96, were held Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, in Minerva Cemetery with Charles Denman officiating.

Mr. Hubert died Tuesday, Feb. 5, at his home in New Waverly.

He was born Oct. 10, 1916, in Milam County to Lottie (Currey) and Frank W. Hubert Jr.

Mr. Hubert served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He retired as a millwright with Houston Texas Union Hall Local No. 2232.

Mr. Hubert was a member of the VFW and was a Baptist.

He married Mildred Rust in 1952 and she preceded him in death on Sept. 7, 1991.

He then married Mary E. Lanning. They lived the past two years in New Waverly and were formerly of Minerva.

Mr. Hubert was preceded in death by his first wife; his parents; two brothers, Huling Hubert and Ralph Hubert; and a sister, Hester M. Richardson.

Survivors are his wife, Mary E. Hubert of New Waverly; a son, Noble Ray Hubert of Dallas; a daughter, Beverly McComb and husband Don of Houston; two stepsons, Ben S. Carey and wife Terry of Houston, Joe Pat Potter, Jr. and wife Cheryl Lynn of Willis; and three stepdaughters, Shirley A. Rogers and husband Frank of Rockdale, Patricia Partain and husband Bill of Conroe, Brenda Barton of New Waverly; also, six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Jessie Shelander, Walleed Baban, Adil Baban, Butch Malone, George Malone and Corey Young.
