Milano Opry Saturday
MILANO—The monthly Milano Opry Show will be Saturday, Feb. 16 at Milano High School. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and show will start at 7.
“Come early and eat,” said Lynn Martin, publicist. “We will have hamburgers and barbecue sandwiches (BBQ cooked by Lee’s Landing in Rockdale), along with our famous homemade pies.”
Guest per formers will be “ The Tuckers” (Johnny, Cheryl and Holly) from Waco and Sophie Thomason from Rockdale. House band members are Billy Barnett, Michael Herod, Ab Woods, Michael Wall, Lynn Martin, Gary Beard and Johnny Foster. Donny White of Milano is emcee.
Linwood Acres Garden Club will hold its annual plant exchange and sale during the Tejas Festival on March 2 in the former Henry’s Garage building (northeast corner of Main and Bell downtown).
A special feature will be 500 free trees donated by Alcoa.
Yard art and decorated pots made by garden club members will be for sale. There will be an area for children to plant a seed to take with them and watch mature.

Masons set fish fry
CAMERON—San Andres Masonic Lodge 170 in Cameron will hold its ninth annual fish fry luncheon from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23 at Bea’s Kitchen.
Tickets are $8 each (dine-in or carry out). Plates will include hand-breaded catfish, pinto beans, hush puppies, coleslaw and a homemade dessert.
A silent auction will also be held. Proceeds from the event will benefit the lodge and cleanup of the historic Port Sullivan Cemetery.
Tickets will be available at the door.

4-H CF steak meal Feb. 24
Rockdale 4-H Club will hold its annual chicken fried steak meal and silent auction fund-raiser from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24 at the New Salem Clubhouse in Fair Park, according to Paul Luckey, spokesperson.
Dine-in or to-go plates available. Advance tickets are $8 and can be purchased from any Rockdale 4-H member.
Rummage sale March 2
CAMERON—Cameron Arts & Service League will hold a rummage sale from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, March 2 in Methodist Church fellowship hall on West Third Street. Proceeds will be used for local service and scholarships. FMI: Lynne Hornung, 254-697-4173.
BBQ chicken meal
Rockdale Project Graduation will hold a BBQ chicken dinner fund-raiser Sunday, April 21 at the Rockdale KC Hall, according to Debbie Brinkley, spokesperson. Serving will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., dine-in or carry-out.
Tickets are $8 per plate and are on sale now from any Rockdale Project Graduation Senior.
Locklin Cemetery Assn.
THORNDALE— Locklin Cemetery Association will hold its annual meeting at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 2 in the Thorndale Senior Citizens Center at Thorndale.
Town & Country Club
THORNDALE—Town & Country Club members met at the homes of Ethel Seelig and Betty Atkins during January and planned 2013 events.
Members will continue hosting a July Fourth party for clients at the MARC Center. Members also planned their Christmas party, family night and luncheon dates. Fund-raising for the club’s three charities was discussed.
Five guests attended the two meeting: Jean Hejl, Lillie Olsen, Shirley Story, Phyllis Denman and Pat Oeser.

Music benefit Feb. 23
CHRIESMAN— Chriesman Community Center will host a country/ gospel music program at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23 to benefit the Caldwell Volunteer Fire Department and CrimeStoppers.
Musicians Roy Pilgrim, Jerry Williams and Mike Holt, plus others, will perform. Food will be available.

A grief support group for teens ages 12-18 meets each first Thursday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Rockdale High School library. The group is for those who are coping with the loss of a family member or close friend.

‘Denim & Diamonds’ dance planned Feb 23
THORNDALE— Relay for Life of Thorndale will host a family friendly dance from 6 until 10 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23 at Fireman’s Hall. The “Denim & Diamonds” dance admission will be $5 per person at the door.
“Dads bring your daughters, moms bring your sons, come as a family, couple, or a group,” said Deana Caffey, publicist. “Refreshments will be provided and there will be dance contests.”

Golf tourney March 16
CAMERON—Relay For Life of Milam County will hold a golf tournament on March 16 at Cameron Country Club.
