Stimmel

Graveside services for Herbert B. Stimmel, 86, of Rockdale were held Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale.

Mr. Stimmel died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at Richards Memorial Hospital in Rockdale.

He was born July 6, 1926, in Sagerton to Bruno and Cordie (Rinehart) Stimmel.

Mr. Stimmel lived a short time in Rockdale and was formerly of Belton where he had lived for a number of years.

He attended school in Belton, was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of Brazos Meadow Baptist Church in Hewett.

Mr. Stimmel served 33 years as the civilian union president at Fort Hood.

He was a civilian worker for the Department of Army at HQ, III Corp and Fort Hood. He worked on tanks, was a section supervisor and a shop steward.

On April 1, 2002, he married Doris Rollins in Salado.

Mr. Stimmel was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Janet Craven; and a brother, Thomas Bennett Stimmel.

Survivor are his wife, Doris Stimmel of Rockdale; three sons, Marty Harris of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Jeff Calaway of Fort Worth, Terry Stimmel of Robinson; and two sisters, Bettye Ducote and Freddye Debault, both of Rockdale; also, 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

The burn ban for Milam County has been lifted. Burning is always prohibited in the county's municipalities.
