While Rockdalians have voted to provide enough money for the school district to improve and upgrade its facilities, the sports department is doing its best to wear them out.

Milano, Mumford on full court collision course
FLATONIA—The Milano Eagles won the battle of the birds on Tuesday night as they defeated the San Antonio Stacey Tuesday night at Bulldog Gym 68-44 in regional quarterfinal action.
This sets up a trip to the Class A, Division I, Region IV tournament for Milano (25-7) to be played Friday and Saturday at the Cougar Den at New Braunfels Canyon High School. Full Story
Lady Dogs stopped in regional finals again
NEW BRAUNFELS—There are just some steps you have a hard time getting past and for the Thorndale Lady Dogs, it is the regional championship.
In their fifth appearance in a Region IV title game, Thorndale fell to Snook 40-39 in the final seconds, just missing out on a trip to the state tournament.
The Lady Dogs finished the season with a 26-10 record. Full Story

Powerlifters qualify for regionals
NAVASOTA—The Rockdale powerlifting team competed in Navasota this past weekend, where school records fell and all five Tiger lifters qualified for the regional meet.
Nick Gonzales and Dalton Kurz placed first in their weight class.
Kurz (165-lb class) set two new school records with 485 lbs on the deadlift and a total weight of 1,200 lbs. Full Story
David, Hayes named All-State
Rockdale linebacking duo of James David and Markus Hayes were named to the 62nd annual Texas Sports Writers Association Class 3A All-State football team.
David was named on the third team, while Hayes was an honorable mention selection.
David, who missed part of the season with a knee injury, was an honorable mention choice last season. Full Story
