‘Garden of Hope’

Rising Star Baptist Church’s “Garden of Hope” kickoff was held last Wednesday at the church grounds, 1055 Texas Street, with more than 25 people attending.

The garden wi ll provide resources and encourage families and students in the community to grow their own food. The garden will also create opportunity for recreation, exercise, therapy and education.

Everyone in the community is welcome to become a part of the garden. Free garden plots are available to individuals, families, churches, senior citizens, youth groups, organizations and others.

Anyone interested in a garden plot interested in helping with the garden may do so by contacting James Bradford, 512-446-3242, or Rev. Royal Johnson, RSBC pastor, 512-446-2759.

The garden is requesting donations of seeds, garden tools and other garden items from anyone who may have equipment to share.

A “Basis Gardening Class” will be conducted from 10 a.m. until noon Saturday, March 9 at Rising Star Baptist. The class is free to the public.
