Page Page Page earn degrees from Texas State University

SAN MARCOS—Veronica Page earned a bachelor’s of science in Interdisciplinary Studies Curr iculum and Instruction with a minor in English from Texas State University during their December 2012 commencement exercises.

Page graduated Summa Cum Laude with a cumulative GPA of 3.96. She earned Dean’s List honors each semester and was a videographer for the football team while attending Texas State University.

Page is the daughter of Kenneth and Valerie Page.

A 2008 graduate of Thorndale High School, Page plans to pursue a career in education and a Master’s in Child Life Specialist.

Perez named finalist in National Miss pageant

Lyndaie Perez, 7, of Milano, has been chosen as a state finalist in the National America Miss Texas pageant to be held July 26-27 at Hotel Intercontinental in Dal las. She will compete in the 7-9 year old division.


Perez Perez The winner of the pageant will receive a $ 1,000 cash award, crown and banner, bouquet of roses and air transportation to compete in the national pageant at Disneyland in California. Pageants are held for girls ages four to eighteen, in five age groups.

The National American Miss pageant program is based on inner beauty, as well as poise and presentation. Emphasis is placed on the importance of gaining self-confidence, learning new skills, learning good attitudes about competition and setting and achieving personal goals. The pageant seeks to recognize the accomplishments of each girl whle encouraging her to set goals for the future.

Perez, a second grader at Milano Elementary School, is the daughter of Max and Nancy Perez of Milano.

Some of her sponsors include Taqueria Banda, Smokin’ Oak BBQ, several family members and friends.

Rabies clinic offered March 23 in Thorndale

THORNDALE—Thorndale Middle School is sponsoring a rabies clinic from 2-5- p.m. Saturday, March 23 at the Thorndale pavilion in the park.

Dr. Arlon Graef, DVM and his staff from Graef Veterinary Hospital of Taylor will be on hand at the pavilion to administer rabies shots and other shots for cats and dogs.

The rabies shots are only $5 and other shots will also be available. Please use a leash on dogs and a carrier for cats.

Project Grad schedule barbecue chicken dinner

Rockdale Project Graduation will hold a barbecue chicken dinner fund-raiser on Sunday, April 21 at Rockdale KC Hall, according to Debbie Brinkley, spokesperson.

Serving will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., dine in or carry out.

Desserts will also be available.

Tickets are $8 per plate and are on sale now from any Rockdale Project Graduation Senior.
