RJH Symphonic Band earns high marks


Members of the Rockdale Junior High Symphonic Band competed at UIL concert and sight-reading contest on March 6. Members of the Rockdale Junior High Symphonic Band competed at UIL concert and sight-reading contest on March 6. The Rockdale Junior High Symphonic Band traveled to Hendrickson High Schoool in Pf lugerville on March 6 to participate at the UIL Region 18/26 Concert and Sight Reading Contest.

The band earned straight division one (superior) ratings from the concert judges and straight division two (excellent) ratings from the sight reading judges.

“We are very proud of our students for being the only band in the C Varsity classification to earn a division one rating on stage,” RISD director of bands Adrian A. Acevedo said. “Our band was also one of only two bands to earn a division two rating in sight reading; there were no division one ratings earned in sight reading within our classification. Again, the students were well prepared and represented our school and community with pride.”

Also, Xavion Ellison, Alex Hartman, Jaycee Henderson, Blake King, Frances King, Hunter Lehmann, Emma Mireles, Braxton Moore, Abby Moreland, Carlee Morgan, Mason Morrow, Estrella Olguin, Alfredo Palacios, Samantha Pantaleon, Trace Phillips, Destinee Ramirez, Blanca Reyes, Ariana Robbins, Maria Robbins, Dylan Rowe, Aaron Rutledge.

The band is under the leadership of director of bands Adrian Acevedo and assistant director Les Huff.
