Cowboy Church to host Pro-Am team roping Sun.
Milam County Cowboy Church will host a Pro-Amateur Team Roping here Sunday, March 17. Church service will start at 9 a.m. at the fairgrounds arena. Guest speaker will be David Key, a professional team roper who grew up in Caldwell. Roping events will start at 11 with a pro-am team roping where local amateurs get to rope with professionals and compete for a saddle and money.
After the Pro-Am there will be an open roping. “Last year we had several world champions competing,” said Daniel Garrison, publicist. “Following the open we’ll have a #11 slide,” he added.
‘Garden of Hope’ sets work days March 29-30
Rising Star Baptist Church’s “Garden of Hope” has scheduled work days from 9 a.m. until noon on Friday, March 29, and Saturday, March 30 at the church grounds, 1055 Texas Street.
“Please bring garden tools, plants and seeds if you have some to share,” said JoAnn Bradford, RSBC publicist. “You may either request a plot or work in the common garden area,” she said.
Easter Holy Week luncheons at FBC
Rockdale Ministerial Alliance will sponsor its annual noon-hour Community Holy Week luncheon services March 25-29 in the First Baptist Church Family Life Center.
Each meeting features sandwiches and finger foods provided by participating local churches, plus music, scripture and a short Holy Week message brought by the following speakers:

Easter sunrise service set here at Tiger Field
Rockdale’s annual community-wide Easter Sunrise Service will be held at 7 a.m. Sunday, March 31 at Tiger Field, the high school football stadium.
Music will be provided by Holy Peculiar, a Rockdale band.
Preacher for the service will be Rev. David Pussman, pastor of First Presbyterian Church. Other pastors leading in the service will be Rev. Russ Willis, pastor at Meadowbrook Baptist; Rev. Rita Sims, pastor at St. John’s United Methodist; Rev. Jack Chelf, pastor of First Baptist; and Rev. Pam Graham, pastor at St. Thomas Episcopal.
“Attendees are advised to bring a towel to wipe off any dew on the seats, or to bring a stadium seat,” said Rev. Sims, president of the Rockdale Ministerial Alliance which coordinates Rockdale’s Holy Week activities.
In case of inclement weather, the service will be held at St. John’s United Methodist Church, 1700 Hillcrest, corner of Hillcrest and Summit.
IMAP Church holding Friday fund-raisers
Mundo Apostólico Pentecostés Church, located at 586 Ackerman Street, is selling to-go dinner plates as a fund-raiser on Fridays through the end of March.
Plates are $7 and include an entre, rice, beans and homemade flour tortillas. Serving will begin at 10 a.m.

‘Grace’ is DVD topic here Thursday for Aglow
Rockdale Aglow Lighthouse on Thursday, March 14 will present a DVD from the 2012 Aglow International Conference by Graham Cooke on “Grace, Marvelous Grace.”
The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in the meeting room at Kountry Inn, 1200 West Cameron Avenue (US 79) in Rockdale. “Come join us and bring a friend,” said Dian Jaecks, publicist.
“Cooke is a popular speaker around the world with a passion to empower people of God to walk in their true identity,” Jaecks said.
St. Paul’s announces egg hunt, Easter services
THORNDALE—St. Paul Lutheran Church will host a community Easter egg hunt on the grounds of St. Paul Lutheran Church and School at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 30 and all children of the community are invited.
In case of rain, the event will be held in the Family Activity Center.
The public is also invited for St. Paul’s Easter services on March 31: Sunrise service at 7 a.m. presented by the church youth; Easter breakfast at 8 a.m., Sunday school at 9:15 a.m., and Easter worship at 10:15 a.m.

An ecumenical monthly men’s Christian fellowship breakfast is held from 7 until 8 a.m. each second Tuesday, the site rotating between several local churches.
Next breakfast will be April 9 at First Presbyterian Church, 1600 Alcoa Avenue.
Purpose is Christian fellowship and all men of the Rockdale area are invited, according to Bill Avrett, spokesman.
