City commission orders demolition of Cameo Insurance
Rockdale’s Building Standards Commission says the Cameo Insurance Building is dangerous and has to come down but its owners want to renovate and preserve the historic structure.
On a 3-0 vote, with two abstentions, the commission gave owner Gloria Thrasher 14 days to “secure” the former Cameo Insurance Building, then 60 days to demolish it. Full Story

A Cameron native whose 22-year Army career ended two years ago when he was killed in Afghanistan, now has his name on the main highway between Rockdale and Cameron.
The stretch of US 77 between the north Rockdale city limits and the Y-intersection (US 77/190-Texas 36) southeast of Cameron has been designated the Army Master Sgt. Charles L. Price III Memorial Highway by the state. Full Story

Knights of Columbus Council 7014’s annual Lenten fish fry is into its final two Fridays at the KC Hall.
