Whitmore piano students earn high marks at Junior Festival

Local piano students recently played in the National Federation of Music Clubs' Junior Festival at the University of Mary Hardin Baylor, Belton, according to their piano teacher, Dixie Whitmore.

Over 160 students from Central Texas performed at the festival in piano, hymn playing, violin, cello and voice.

Keyboard Melody Makers Junior Club members participating in piano and hymn playing were Ashton Betchan, Brian Blanchard, Casey Carter, Geritt Davenport, Joshua Davenport, Mattie Fisher, Ashton Freeman, Reina King, Abigail Olson, Allyson Page, Peyton Shuffield, Christopher Tenner, Mary Unnasch, and Robby Whitehead, all receiving superior and excellent ratings.

Geritt Davenport earned his second gold cups in piano and hymn playing categories.

Keyboard Melody Makers Junior Club with Whitmore as counselor, is sponsored by the Matinee Musical Club, a member of the Texas and National Federation of Music Clubs.
