Eight draw sentences in 20th District Court
Eight persons drew sentences in 20th District Court last week, according to Prosecutor Bill Torrey, who listed case dispositions as follows:
• Eugene Gonzales Jr., 26, Austin, pleaded guilty to a lesser included offense, attempted possession of a controlled substance, a Class A misdemeanor, two years deferred adjudication probation, $2,000 fine, $140 restitution to DPS. Full Story
Second state resolution honors Chris Holcombe
AUSTIN—The second of two resolutions honoring the late Margaret Christ ine “ Chris” Holcombe was filed at the State Capitol this week.
State Rep. Dr. Marsha Farney filed HR 812 on Monday in honor of Holcombe who died Jan. 3 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Full Story
Ministerial Alliance lists plans for annual Holy Week luncheons
Rockdale Ministerial Alliance will sponsor its annual noon-hour Community Holy Week luncheon services March 25-29 in the First Baptist Church Family Life Center.
Each meeting features sandwiches and finger foods provided by participating local churches, plus music, scripture and a short Holy Week message. Full Story

Rockdale residents—and only Rockdale residents— who want to get rid of spring cleaning trash can do so at a citywide Stash Your Trash Day March 23.
Hours are 8 a.m. to 12-noon at Fair Park.

Gause residents busy with Spring Break fun
Seems to be a nice week for Spring Break. Hope all of you who had these days off have had an enjoyable time. Several went on weekend trips, some gone for the week and others probably made day trips.
Donnie McBee, son Keith and grandsons Dustin and Blake spent the weekend in Sonora where they went deer hunting. Keith got a huge axis deer. Full Story
