Milano Opry to take stage Saturday

Want to see a good country and gospel music show? Then come to the Milano Opry on Saturday March 16 at Milano High School.

Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m. Be sure to go with an appetite for good music and tasty food.

The group will have barbecue sandwiches, hamburgers, French fries and their homemade pies.

Opry guests this month are Mundo Earwood, Dale Phillips and Bobby Mikulin. House band members are Billy Barnett, Ab Woods, Michael Herod, Michael Wall, Bob Rohan, Johnny Foster, Lynn Martin and Donny White with his cowboy poetry.

Proceeds from the Opry are used toward scholarships for our local graduates.

Friends of the Bailey Bank Building will hold a fund-raiser at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 23 at the Milano Civic Center.

The “Come join the Parade” event will include food, fun and sing along.

Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under.

Don’t forget that the Milano ISD PATCH Club is still collecting “Box Tops For Education.”

There are containers at the school offices or just send them to school with your students. The box tops are sent in and the school earns free money.

The club’s goal is 10,000 box tops this school year and they are three-fourths of the way there.

Area students are on Spring Break this week. Classes will resume at regular times Monday, March 18.

A fund-raiser golf tournament is planned for Saturday, May 18 to help fund a few new scholarships at Milano High School this spring.

It will be a four-man scramble format and will be held at the Rockdale Country Club golf course.

They are looking for people to play in the tournament and for sponsors. The Milano Volunteer Fire Department’s Ladies Auxiliary has set the dates for its spring garage sale.

It w ill be April 4- 6 at the Milano Civic Center. The sale will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 4-5 and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 6.

The ladies will be at the civic center from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. starting April 1 to accept donations.

They are in great need of donations for the sale so get busy with your spring cleaning and help out this great group.
